Directions – From the Inn, turn right onto US127 north to Bluegrass Parkway east. Follow Bluegrass Parkway east to U.S. 60. Follow U.S. 60 to New Circle Road north. From New Circle Road, Newtown Pike north to I-75 to the Kentucky Horse Park. The Kentucky Horse Park is approximately 42 miles from Beaumont Inn bed and breakfast.
Kentucky Horse Park is the leading tourist attraction for all things “horse” and one of the world’s best equine competition facilities. This working horse farm has 1,200 acres surrounded by 30 miles of white plank fencing with outstanding museums, theaters, tours and nearly 50 different breeds of horses. The excitement of the racetrack is brought to life by the elite group of champion horses that reside at the park's Hall of Champions.
What to see and do? The world-renowned International Museum of the Horse is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and traces the 55-million-year history of the horse. See racing trophies, priceless artifacts, carriages and more. The American Saddlebred Museum is home to the largest collection of Saddlebred artifacts in the world including trophies, photographs, tack, artwork and a library of over 2,400 volumes used for bloodline and genealogical research. See the film The Rein of Nobility, narrated by horseman and film and TV star William Shatner, this majestic film explores the world of the horse and is shown in the Visitor Center throughout the day. Take a 10- to 12-minute narrated trolley tour of the main activities area pulled by a team of Draft Horses. Go horseback riding with a guide and children will enjoy pony rides. The Breeds Barn Shows are held daily. This half-hour presentation highlights the unique characteristics of selected breeds, while authentically costumed handlers put the horses through their paces. After each show, pet your favorite horses, take up close pictures, and speak with the handlers during the “meet and greet” sessions.
There are many horse shows, competitions and events throughout the year. The Rolex Kentucky three-day event is the largest annual equine competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park, held during the last weekend of April.
