Dear Friends:
Ol’ Man Winter has been marching through the Bluegrass with a vengeance and a reminder of just how crazy our Kentucky weather can be. We have experienced the whole gamut from spring-like tornadoes to icy cold blizzards all within a week of each other. Now that makes for a memorable time! But, during this siege, we fortunately escaped major damage and feel truly blessed as there were others nearby who did not fare as well. In any event, we are looking forward to an early Spring and have all in readiness for you whenever you can steal away for a couple of days of R & R.

Winter Goin’s On
Our winter tasks have included the addition of a new enlarged walk-in refrigerator, replacement of guestroom carpet, a few new window treatments and the addition of a couple King and Queen sized beds to our guestroom inventory. All in addition to the usual “touch up” plaster and paint which we schedule for this slower time of the year. The winter crew has done a marvelous job while keeping the “home fires burning” for those guests who have traveled in for a night or two of TAVERN fare, good book adventure and fireplace snoring!

Reunion Craze
One of our fastest growing market trends has been our hosting of small, adult family reunions and friendship reunions (several couples meeting to enjoy a social gathering of golf, shopping, touring, frolic and fun!). Please keep us in mind the next time you’re looking for such a venue to host your reunion event!

Coming This Summer – Bell Cottage Spa
After a couple of years of listening to our innkeeping brotherhood ( THINK – www.thinkaboutinns.com ) expound upon the benefits and advantages of implementing our own Spa services here on property, we have decided to do just that. Beginning around the first of July, we will transform the Bell Cottage into the Bell Cottage Spa Facility. We will have our own massage therapists on staff and will pamper our guests with a variety of spa services for their relaxation and body/spirit renewal. Family Notes
On a personal note, Christmas Eve delivered a wonderful pre-Christmas gift with the announcement by Dixon that he had asked his girlfriend of some eighteen months, Elizabeth Simms of Springfield, Kentucky, to be his wife. And better yet, she accepted! The whole Dedman clan was on hand and what an announcement party it turned out to be. Helen and Chuck are so pleased as they felt from day one she would be the perfect match for Dixon and look forward to sharing these young folks with the Hamilton Simms clan of Washington County. Elizabeth is obtaining her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development from Eastern Kentucky University. The wedding is scheduled for September!

Becky remains with Brown-Forman Corporation as Assistant Guest Services Coordinator at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. When traveling Kentucky, the Woodford Reserve Distillery (www.woodfordreserve.com) is a “must see”! Be sure to ask for Becky if you go. She loves her work, lives in Lexington, Kentucky and enjoys travel, exercise/training and a good book. (I also think she dreams of once again owning and working with horses as she did throughout her school years.)

While scrounging through boxes of old records, advertisements, media articles, etc. on Beaumont Inn, Helen discovered a wonderful 10 by 6 inch advertisement for Beaumont Inn in a 1926 issue of what we believe to be the Louisville Courier-Journal. The ad reads:
